Lifecycle Rule To Clean Up S3 Bucket Delete Markers

We suggest creating a lifecycle rule to clean up old delete markers if versioning is enabled on your ObjectiveFS S3 bucket. See this doc for how to check if versioning is enabled on your S3 bucket.

Steps to set up lifecycle rule to clean up old delete markers

  1. Go to AWS Console https://console.aws.amazon.com/s3

  2. Select your S3 bucket

  3. Select the Management tab

  4. In Lifecycle rules, click on Create lifecycle rule

  5. In Lifecycle rule configuration, enter a rule name (e.g. delete marker cleanup) and choose Apply to all objects in the bucket

  6. In Lifecycle rule actions, select Delete expired object delete markers or incomplete multipart uploads

  7. In Delete expired object delete markers or incomplete multipart uploads, select Delete expired object delete markers.

  8. Select Create rule to create the lifecycle rule.
