macFUSE Installation
macFUSE is required to mount your ObjectiveFS filesystem on macOS. This document covers the steps to install it: the download, enabling kernel extensions on Apple silicon and allowing the macFUSE system extension. Install ObjectiveFS first, see the Get Started guide.
Download and install macFUSE
macFUSE dmg
For macOS 12 and newer (reference: macFUSE). ObjectiveFS uses the macFUSE kernel extension. The FSKit backend is not supported yet.
ObjectiveFS itself supports macOS 10.13 and newer, a lower floor than the current macFUSE. On macOS 11 and older, install an earlier macFUSE or osxfuse release that supports your version; the steps below are written for the current one.
Enable kernel extensions (Apple silicon only)
When the macFUSE installer asks, click "Open System Settings". In Privacy & Security, click "Enable System Extensions…", enter your password and choose "Shut Down".
Press and hold the power button until "Loading startup options" appears. Choose Options, then Utilities → Startup Security Utility. Select your startup disk, click "Security Policy…", choose "Reduced Security" and tick "Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers". Click OK and restart. Intel Macs skip this step.
Allow the macFUSE system extension
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security. Next to "System software from developer Benjamin Fleischer was blocked from loading", click "Allow", enter your password and restart when asked.
